Behind the name Nandi hides in reality the Chemosit, also called Chimiset, a creature of the folklore of the Nandi, a people of Kenya, in East Africa and not West Africa as the original entry indicated. The Chemosit is described as a monster half man half bird moving on a single leg, endowed with a glowing mouth. By night, it is said to lure children with songs before devouring them. This same legendary complex fed, in the colonial era, the cryptozoological myth of the Nandi Bear, presented as a fierce nocturnal beast whose existence is in no way scientifically established. The entity thus belongs to folklore and cryptozoology more than to a structured pantheon.
