Mfuzi, also called Funzi, is the mythical blacksmith of the Fjort, a population related to the Kongo of the Loango coast, in the present-day Congo. According to folklore sources, after the Fjort had received fire from a river deity, Mfuzi taught them to work iron and copper. To him is also attributed the birth of lightning, born of the sparks flying from his hammer striking the anvil. The entity remains little documented, known through a small number of collections.
