Garakhe is a character of the West African tale centred on the hero Marain Jagu, handed down in the Senegalese and Manding area. A tyrannical king, he has the diviner Bincigi put to death for denouncing the oppression of the people. Bincigi leaves a son, Marain Jagu, endowed with extraordinary powers, who grows up to avenge his father. The hero first kills Garakhe's sons, then learns magic in order to bring down the king himself. The entity is little attested outside this narrative and belongs to folklore rather than to a divine pantheon.
